I have been roofing since the age of 14. Have traveled the country installing all types of roofing. Was a journeyman in the roofing Union for 10yrs, and have extensive knowledge in all aspects of the trade.

 

Reroofs: Il. building code states that you may only have a maximum of two layers of shingles on your roof. If you have two layers of shingles on your roof, at least one layer has to be torn off, otherwise you may install a new layer over the exisisting roof.

 

Tearoffs: As long as you have to tearoff a layer of roofing, you are almost always better off removing all layers  of roofing materials down to the existing decking. This way any deteriorated decking and or flashings can be removed and new material installed.

 

Repairs: Any and all roof leaks should be taking serious. The longer a leak persists, the more damage is caused. The best remedy to having to do repair work, is to have routine maintenance done semi-annualy. Spring and fall are the best times of year to have all debris removed from the roof and gutters of your home. Having any tree limbs cut back from the roof area is also a good idea.

 

Inspections: I would be happy to meet with you and inspect your roof. For a $50.00 service fee, I will inspect the entire roof and gutter system. I will provide pictures of any and all areas that need attention. If any work is to be completed, the service fee of $50.00 will be refunded-applied to the material and labor costs of said work.
